I believe that glasses are superior to contacts in many ways. They encourage curiosity. They are easy to remember. They are comfortable on your face. This is why I believe glasses are better than contacts.
Contacts don’t have different styles, but glasses do. They can be different colors, or a combo of two different colors. You can also get more than one pair, so you can match them with your clothes. Contacts, however, have no style and can be boring at times. Glasses have a style that contacts just don’t possess. Contacts can be forgotten to take off or put on. You could leave them on at night, or forget them at home when you go to work or school, which can be harmful to your eyes. Glasses, however, are easily noticeable, thus being hard to forget. They are also easy to put on, which means that you can remember them more easily. Glasses are easier to remember than contacts. Contacts can be painful to some children, or even adults. They can be irritating to the eye. In fact, my friend, a girl named Jordan, doesn’t like contacts because she finds them painful to her eyes. Glasses, unlike contacts, effect your eyes in o such way. Contacts can be harmful to our eyes. Contacts aren’t the best way for people with poor eyesight, but glasses are. They are easy to wear, stylish, and cause no pain, all unlike contacts. If you still think that contacts are the best way, talk to your local optometrist. Written by Emma Carroll in Mrs. McIver's ELAR class All Rights Reserved

Why should kids have phones in school? Here, let me tell you why. If there is an emergency you could call someone. You could listen to music. You could also take notes about the lesson. There are bad reasons too about having phones at school. You could cheat on tests and the STAAR Test. It can be a distraction. You can be on it too much. Here, let me explain.
What if there is an emergency? If someone/something comes to the building, or enters it, you could call 911, your grandma, or someone you trust. If your not feeling good, instead of pestering the teacher to go to the nurse, you could call your grandma or someone to pick you up. What if the power goes out, there is a flashlight on your phone, so you can easily turn it on. But, there is a bad side too, you could cheat on tests and then you won’t be learning as much as you should. You could listen to music if you want to. It is a scientific proven fact that if you listen to music while you study, if you listen to the same exact music on the test that you listened to while you studied, you will remember better. If it’s boring in your class or if you are mad or something you could listen to music. Even if you just want to tune out the world well then, there you go. Having your phone during class it will be a distraction. You can be on Instagram and Snapchat then you won’t be paying any attention. It could also be useful for taking notes. You could record the lesson, so when you go home you can understand it better. You could type up the notes on a quick memo app. Even if you wanted to, you could take pictures of the notes that are too long to type up, from the board. On the other hand, you could be on it too much and then you won’t focus. And if you don’t focus guess what you won’t be learning. Hopefully now you can see why phones in class or at school are important. Calling for emergencies, listening to your music, or even just taking notes in class, it’s worth it. Maybe now you can decide if it is a yes or a no. Whose side are you? Hopefully it is my side. My side is, of course I want phones at school! Written by Cecelia Rodriguez in Mrs. McIver's ELAR class All Rights Reserved It’s very helpful to have cell phones in school! They can be used for many things such as, calling parents, looking things up, and music while working. I could do so much more with my phone at school, than just my brain. Trust me we need cell phones in school.
Calling parents could help out by a lot. Because most students walk home after school and the door could be locked and the parents might not be home. Than the child would have walk for a while to go all the way back to school just to call the parent. That’s just too much of a struggle. So if the students have his or her cell phone they have the ability to call the adults, instead of walking all the way back to school. Looking things up or using calculators would help children get better grades in school or help even the teachers, because they wouldn’t have to go ask the teacher for help they can just look it up on their cell phone, why the teacher can continue their grading or whatever she or he might be doing. The calculator can be used to do simple math right than and there. Which is so much easier than on paper that takes absolutely forever. Music while working can calmly relax a student, and help them with their schoolwork by calming and relaxing them. It can even help them get more schoolwork done on time, and them doing that helps the teachers out. Your killing two birds with one stone! We need cell phones in school right now! Look what I just wrote you about having them. Life at school would be so much less stressful. You need to persuade your principal, and teachers to let you! There’s no time, hurry up and do something about it fast! Written by Ava Choate in Mrs. McIver's ELAR class All Rights Reserved There are some pretty bad things on the internet and it can easily be used to cheat, but, if used properly, it can be a great thing. For example: If you have children that are doing poorly in school, they could get help from the internet and have their grades back up in no time. It can help you with a problem you’re stuck on. You can save paper by using an electronic device instead. The internet can help you stay calm during assignments.
Electronic devices can help you with a problem you can’t figure out. If you forgot how to do something like, let’s say dividing fractions, you can look up instructions on how to do it correctly. Let’s say a problem is how much bigger is the sun than the earth, if you can’t remember the size of the sun or Earth, you can just look it up. If you’re allowed to use a calculator but don’t have one around, you can just use a digital one on an electronic device. If you use an electronic device you can save paper. If you’re writing an essay and use an electronic device and only use paper to print the final product, you could save at least a couple pieces of paper. If you use an electronic device to work out problems instead of a piece of paper, you could save a piece of paper about every day or two. If you make the lessons online instead of giving your students work packets, you could save at least 100 pieces of paper in a single day. Using electronic devices can help keep you calm during assignments. You can make sure you’ll pass by listening to certain music while studying and then listening to the same music while taking the test, this will help you remember more so it’s a bit of re-assurance. You can listen to music you like while working on assignments, which may help calm your nerves. You can listen to soothing or stimulating, sounds either one can help with calmness and concentration, such as rainfall, wind, fire, birds, and coffee shop. As you now can probably tell, when used properly the internet can be a great thing. Using electronics can help you on problems, save paper, and keep you calm and concentrated. If you want to use electronics more, talk to your teachers or the principal. Written by Zach Goforth in Mrs. McIver's ELAR class All Rights Reserved Do you think kids should be allowed to use their phones at school? There are some cons to using them, but I think the pros outweigh the cons. Students can call or text their parents or guardians if there’s an emergency. Kids who have trouble with homework can record what the teacher is saying at school to assist them. For projects, kids can use their phone to research.
If, say, a massive snowstorm is going to come later in the day, and the school announces that students are to go home early, you’re going to need your phone to contact someone who can pick you up. Sure, some people will argue that the teacher has a phone, and there is a classroom phone. But, everyone will have to line up at the teacher’s desk and classroom phone, and chaos can ensue. It’ll also take a while for some kids to reach their parents/guardians. For those who don’t have phones, those who do can share their phone with them. This is why the school should let you have your phone in class for you to use. Recording the lesson at school will help students to do homework about the subject. You could check the recording anytime you needed to. Skipping through a video/recording to find a specific part could be a drag, especially if it’s a long recording. So, make smaller ones, name them, and select the one you need when you use them. If the teacher is talking too fast, ask her/him to slow down or repeat what they said. You can see why a phone isn’t just for games. For research projects, just look up everything on your phone. The kids who can’t handle the responsibility can have their privileges taken away. Sometimes, schools don’t have electronics, or they don’t have enough for everybody. Letting kids use their phone would be a good solution to this problem! Kids who don’t have phones can use the electronics the school has, or they can partner up with someone who has a phone. As you can see, phones can see extremely useful at school. You can use them to call your parents during an emergency. You can also use them for homework and research. Now that you’re convinced, ask your principal if phones can be used at your school!
